A message from the CEO

The 4 Biggest Problems You’ll
Have With Most Contractors and How IDCD Overcomes Them
|It’s a bold statement but it’s
true and if you’re like most of our customers, you’re
probably feeling a bit frustrated, angry, or confused,
about trying to find a contractor you can trust. We all
have either our own contractor horror story or you know
someone who has. You don’t want to deal with:
showing up on time
finishing the job when promised
a poor job or one that didnít meet your standards
hidden charges to the final bill.
I Was Shocked and Embarrassed
When I Found Out That Home Remodeling Was Labeled America's
#1 Most Complained About Industry
|And your feelings are justified. As a matter
of fact, a recent report by the Consumer Sentinel, which
compiles data from the FBI, the US Postal Inspection Service,
and the Better Business Bureau just to name a few, revealed
that home contractor’s have more complaints lodged
against them, than any other industry in the United States
So I understand that you might be skeptical of contractors
in general... especially one that:
a guaranteed start and finish date for all interior
a 3 or 5 year guarantee when other contractors offer
nothing or maybe a limited one year guarantee
no hidden charges
at no charge to you, have you meet with an interior
designer to help you through the selection process
to ensure that you find the design that’s
just right for you.
|You see, at Interstate Decorative Concrete
Designs we do something that is very unique within our
industry. It’s different than anything you’ve
ever seen before.
Whether you do business with us or not, is always totally
up to you. But one thing is sure, after you have spent
a few minutes going through our web site, you will better
understand the concrete industry and know exactly how
to find a certified decorative concrete installer. You
will also know how to get a surface that looks like stone
or ceramic, that has minimal maintenance, and will last
a life time. Let’s face it, no matter how tastes
and styles change over time, stone or tile never go out
of style. Do remember the avocado colored appliances of
the early 70’s. How many do you see today?
You see … most companies in our industry are either
very small, (a guy with a truck) or are very large, (have
5 crews or more and are looking for jobs that bid out
at more than $10,000 and are not interested in smaller
jobs). Here’s why they do it that way:
Beware The One Man Shows and The Big Guy Brush Off
Save Money, Time and Aggravation By
Knowing How Concrete Contractors Really Work
|If you are a one man show, you just don’t
have the bandwidth to get the job done in a reasonable
amount of time. Just think about it for yourself, if you
wanted to install a new patio in your back yard. How long
it would take to get the permits, remove the sod, level
the site, add any drainage that may be necessary, lay
the forms, order and pour the concrete, add the necessary
admixtures, smooth the concrete, stamp it, add any final
texturing, color or stain the concrete, and add the protective
coatings? Let’s face it, it’s a lot of work
and to do it in three or four days is just not going to
happen. Now look at how the big guys operate and this
is from a testimonial from one of our clients. They had
called another concrete contractor and when the salesman
came over he appeared a bit ticked off, as though this
poor woman who wanted to have a new patio and deck installed
around her pool was wasting his time and he was doing
her a favor by even coming over and looking at this job.
She was so disgusted with this salesman’s attitude
that she finally asked him to leave and called us. Now
why would this happen? I’ll tell you why, the larger
guys need the bigger jobs to keep their crews busy and
justify their overhead. If a job is not worth $10,000
or more they are not interested or they may take the job
as a filler, but you may never know when they will start
or even finish the job, you could end up with your backyard
all torn up or your house inhabitable, because these guys
may only show up a few hours per week, when there is are
other more important jobs to work on at the moment. A
job that should have taken 2 to 4 days, for a crew of
this size, is now dragged out all summer. It happens and
it happens a lot.
No One Gives Certified Start And Finish Dates
Our Unique Scheduling System Gets The Job Done When
|The next point I want to mention is that
you are given a firm start and finish date. We do something
that is unique in the industry, we work a 6 day week,
but we only schedule for 4 days in a week, this may sound
like we’re nuts but this gives us an advantage.
You know how crazy New England weather is, it can be 70o
F. and dry one day and rain for the next 3. This creates
a scheduling nightmare, especially for outside work. For
most companies, once one job gets behind, they are behind
for the rest of the season. Because of our unique scheduling
process if we get a “rain delay” we can recover
quickly and be back on scheduled within a few days.
Who Else Offers A 3 or 5 Year Guarantee? Hint No One
|Another point I would like to make is our
100% satisfaction guarantee. No one, and I mean no one
offers this. You’d be lucky if you can get a 1 year
guarantee and it would probably only be for materials,
not the labor. We offer 3 and 5 year guarantees.
Are You Irked About Waiting A
Whole Year Before You Can Have A Deck Installed Around
Your New Pool?
A New Process Allows In-Ground
Pools To Have A Deck Finished In Four Days. Donít Believe
The Pool Salesman And Waite A Year
Pool decks are unique animals; no one
and I repeat no one will guarantee them. Here’s
why. The Pool Companies make their money like any other
contractor on how quickly they can finish the job or
how quickly they can install and finish your pool. One
of the most critical steps and one that is often skipped
to save a few bucks is Soil Compaction.
This process is absolutely critical to the life of your
pool liner and your deck. What the pool salesman won’t
tell you or puts in very fine print is that after you
have that new pool installed and you have visions of
all your friends and neighbors coming over and having
a pool party is that you will have to wait a year before
you can have that deck installed.
A Whole Freaking Year!
This is because of soil compaction or a lack of it.
You see, in their hurry to get the job done, little
effort is put into this critical step. The dirt or soil
is pushed back into place. They may run over it a few
times with the tractor but that is about it for their
soil compaction. They leave it up to Mother Nature to
do their work and you’re stuck with a mud hole
around your new pool. I bet the pool salesman didn’t
include that in his pitch!
Here at Interstate Decorative Concrete Designs, we have
perfected a unique compaction process. This process
allows us to do something that is absolutely unheard
of in the industry. We can guarantee our pool decks
for 3 years and have a new deck installed in 4 days
not a year. No one in the industry even offers a guarantee.
If you or someone you know is even considering, having
a pool installed, give us a call, we will rush out a
FREE copy of our “Upscale Pool Decks Report”
which will explain in detail what we just discussed
briefly. It is important that we are involved early
in the process to assure Soil Compaction is done right.
